HYDERABAD: As March unfolds, Hyderabad and other parts of the state face scorching temperatures, inching towards 40° Celsius.

According to recent data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society, Siddipet recorded the highest temperature at 39° Celsius. In city, Langar Houz experienced the highest temperature at 38.8° Celsius on Saturday.

Consequently, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for several parts of Telangana starting Saturday, indicating temperatures ranging between 36-40° Celsius for the next five days. However, some parts of Hyderabad will not experience extreme heat until Monday.

"This summer is expected to be warmer with El Nino conditions until May. Heat waves can be anticipated," the IMD said. Meanwhile, T Balaji, a weather watcher, tweeted the forecast, suggesting that the state is likely to experience one of its hottest summer seasons. He tweeted, "Telangana may experience more than 10 heatwave days, reminiscent of the summers of 2015-17 and 2019."
