Tractor mows down man in crowd, 7 hurt in Telangana

HYDERABAD: An 85-year-old died and seven others suffered injuries when a tractor ploughed into villagers standing on the roadside to watch padayatra of Ibrahimpatnam MLA's son Manchireddy Prashanth Reddy at Yacharam on Tuesday night.

The deceased N Jangaiah, 85, was from Gaddamallaiah Gudem in Yacharam. Police said Prashant Reddy, son of BRS MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, took out 'Pragati Nivedana' padayatra from Nandi Wanaparthy village to Abdullapurmet. As Prashant was talking to villagers, a tractor, driven by villager N Shankaraiah, ploughed into the crowd. Shankaraiah's family member Jangaiah died on Wednesday and two others were critical. A case was registered under Section 304-a and 337 of IPC. tnn
