BRS will merge with BJP, K Chandrasekhar Rao may be made governor & KT Rama Rao a minister: CM A Revanth Reddy
HYDERABAD: In a fresh salvo at the BRS on Friday, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday said the party will merge with the BJP sooner or later, with ex-CM and BRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao likely to be offered the post of governor, son KT Rama Rao given berth in NDA govt at the Centre and nephew T Harish Rao made the opposition leader in Telangana assembly.
In a chat with mediapersons in New Delhi, he said that though the BRS and BJP leaders in Telangana were denying the merger, it was bound to happen eventually. Later in the evening, Revanth met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary KC Venugopal.
Revanth also said that the four Rajya Sabha members of the BRS will merge with the BJP. BRS MLC and KCR's daughter K Kavitha, accused in the Delhi excise case, may be sent to RS after she is released on bail from jail, he said.
The Telangana Congress has been making the claim of BRS merging with the BJP since the former drew a blank in the Lok Sabha elections. Already, 10 BRS MLAs and six MLCs have joined the Congress, and more legislators from the pink party were expected to jump ship in the near future.
However, BRS working president KTR has rubbished the Congress claim of merger and said that his sister (Kavitha) would not have been in jail for over 150 days if there was any such proposal.
The CM also criticised parties for dragging his brothers into controversies during his visit to the US. "I have seven brothers. Just because I became chief minister does that mean they are going to sit at home?" he asked.
Brushing aside BRS criticism of his govt's claim on farm loan waiver, Revanth said, "The state govt has reserved 5,000 crore for crop loan waiver. Those who have not got the benefit despite being eligible should bring it to the notice of the district collectorate. If a family had loans exceeding 2 lakh, they would be considered as a single unit. The waiver would apply up to 2 lakh only," he said and criticised the Union Budget for offering almost nothing to Telangana.
