HYDERABAD: The Telangana government on Wednesday formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand, to probe the alleged conspiracy to poach four TRS MLAs by three persons. The SIT was formed just a day after the Telangana high court gave its nod for the Cyberabad police to continue investigation in the case.
On October 26, three persons - Ramachandra Bharati of Delhi, Nanda Kumar of Hyderabad and Simhayaji Swamy of Tirupati - were trapped when they allegedly offered huge sums of money to the four legislators at TRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy's farm house at Moinabad.
Subsequently, the three were arrested and remanded in judicial custody. Till now, the investigation in the case was being conducted by Cyberabad police. A FIR was registered by Moinabad police following the spy operation to trap the trio, who reached Moinabad farm house to hold discussions with Rohith Reddy and three other TRS MLAs - Guvvala Balaraju, Rega Kantha Rao and B Harshavardhan Reddy - to switch parties.
Apart from Anand, the SIT would include Nalgonda superintendent of police Rema Rajeshwari, Cyberabad DCP (Crimes) Kalmeshwar Shingenavar, DCP (Shamshabad) R Jagadishwar Reddy, Narayanpet superintendent of police N Venkateshwaralu, assistant commissioner of police (Rajendranagar) B Gangadhar and Moinabad inspector Laxmi Reddy.
"Since the case is sensitive, high profile and sensational in nature and as it involves investigation in multiple dimensions, which requires thorough scientific and evidence based investigation in an elaborate manner, it requires officers with experience and requisite expertise with specific skill sets to carry out investigation," the DGP said in his proposal.
