KURNOOL: Senior Maoist leader Gajjela Krishna Reddy alias Ramana surrendered to the police in
Kurnool
on Thursday.

- inspector general of police N Sridhar Rao told the media that Reddy was wanted in as many as 10 cases and his capture carried a reward of Rs 4 lakh.
Sridhar Rao said the reward money will be handed over to Krishna Reddy. On Thursday he gave Rs 10,000 to Krishna Reddy as 'immediate relief’.
Krishna Reddy joined the Radical Students Union (RSU) in 1975 and played an active role in the Maoist movement. He is native of Gaddlavaripalle in Kadapa district. He was a key member in the Rayalaseema committee of the Maoist Party. Before joining the Maoist movement during emergency, he served as a teacher in a government school.
Police said Krishna Reddy had left the Maoist Party and surrendered to the police due to ill health and failing health. The Maoist party has received a severe setback in Andhra Pradesh with the surrender of Krishna Reddy.
