Hyderabad, Jun 1 () The rich avian resources of Telangana are to be depicted at a photo exhibition being organised here to mark the second anniversary of the formation of the State.
The exhibition, 'The Birds of Telangana', is to be inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao tomorrow at the Sanjivayya Park here.
The expo will be on at the Sanjivayya Park till June 4, Telangana Special Protection Force (TSSPF) Director General Tejdeep Kaur Menon said in a release here today.
Coinciding with World Environment Day, the exhibition will be open on June 5 at the KBR Park in Jubilee Hills, where it will continue until June 8, she said.
Photographs on display, apart from the birds that are endemic and flock to lakes and wooded areas in the state, include those of rare species spotted in Telangana and the seasonal migratory visitors captured in their myriad colours, said Menon, who has curated the exhibition.
TSSPF has adopted the Ameenpur lake – the largest such birding spots in Telangana – and the Anantagiri Forest tracts – the nearest wooded habitat to Hyderabad - to rejuvenate these sources of biodiversity. TSSPF personnel have been involved in clean up and awareness creation programmes at both places.
The exhibition includes photographs of birds painted by the children of Ameenpur and Vikarabad. It also showcases drawings of specially-abled children. The photographs are intended to create greater awareness and interest in children about the avian life in the State, Menon added. VVK RSY
