MLC claims Eatala tried to snuff him out in 2018 polls
Hyderabad: Government whip in legislative council and MLC Padi Kaushik Reddy has alleged that it was Huzurabad BJP MLA Eatala Rajender who conspired to kill him during the 2018 assembly elections when he contested against him on a Congress ticket. Eatala was then in TRS (now BRS). The MLC said that Eatala had hired some people to attack his car and damaged glasses of his vehicle as he was uncertain of winning the elections in 2018. Kaushik was reacting to Eatala’s wife Jamuna’s allegation that he (Kaushik) was conspiring to kill Eatala. “Eatala Rajender’s wife Jamuna’s allegation that I had planned to kill Rajender and spent 20 crore is a big joke. It is the BJP MLA who does murder politics in the constituency. He is also known to harass his political opponent by using police force,” Kaushik said at a press conference after BRS legislature party meeting on Tuesday. The MLC said he was ready for an open debate and dubbed Jamuna’s allegations a bundle of lies. He also alleged that Telangana activists Bala Raju and Praveen Kumar died due to ex-minister Eatala’s harassment. Referring to the row of martyrs’ memorial in Huzurubad, Kaushik said it was bulldozed as part of road widening programme and resolution was passed in the municipality. “Being an MLA, Eatala also approved the municipal council’s resolution. New memorial was built later. Eatala couple are making unnecessary controversy over this,” he said. Kaushik also questioned how Eatala, who did not have a big house, constructed a palace in five acres and purchased 10 to 15 vehicles worth crores. “The BJP MLA also forcibly took away the land belonging to the backward and weaker sections,” he alleged. The BRS MLC declared that he had entered politics to defeat Eatala and would not rest till his goal is reached. “As Eatala is aware that he would be losing the elections this time, he has been consulting all parties to switch loyalties,” the MLC claimed.
