It was KCR who said Telangana doesn’t need central funds: Revanth in assembly

Hyderabad: Lashing out at BRS and its president K Chandrasekhar Rao, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said having supported the BJP govt at the Centre on important bills for 10 years, BRS is now claiming that it went all out against the govt. Taking part in a debate in the assembly on the ‘injustice’ meted out to Telangana in the Union Budget, the CM wondered: “Is it not true that your (BRS) Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar flew in a special flight to vote in support of RTI amendment Act introduced by Modi govt in 2019? Is it is not correct KCR welcomed Modi’s demonetisation? KCR even extolled the Narendra Modi govt for bringing out such a policy.”

“When he was CM, KCR invited PM Modi to inaugurate Mission Bhagiratha scheme at Komatibanda in Medak in Aug 2016. KCR said he only wanted Modi’s love and blessings and that Telangana was not seeking Rs 50,000 crore or Rs 1 lakh crore from the Centre,” Revanth said.BRS tried to merge with BJP, says RevanthRevanth alleged that BRS also tried to merge with BJP and is now diverting the topic by talking about privatisation of power sector and his govt giving the contract to industrialist Adani. “There is no power policy in the state for the last 10 years and we are trying to bring discipline in the power sector. We do not need to collude with Adanis and Ambanis.” He said the bonhomie between KCR and Modi was a known fact. BJP had only 113 MPs in the 240-member Rajya Sabha and BRS always extended support to the saffron party. BRS supported BJP presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind, vice-presidential candidate M Venkaiah Naidu and even Rajya Sabha vice-chairman election, he recalled. The CM said even after losing the polls, BRS leaders continue to exhibit arrogance and appealed to its to change their mindset and come forward to help the state develop. “In the Lok Sabha polls, BRS transferred its votes to BJP.” Proposal was to merge BRS with Congress in 2014: KTRResponding to the CM’s comments, BRS Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao said: “We supported Ram Nath Kovind as he is a Dalit, who would become President of the country and Venkaiah Naidu as a ‘Telugu bidda.’ In the next presidential election, we supported the opposition parties candidate Yashwant Sinha.” Denying Revanth’s allegation about BRS-BJP merger, KTR said there was a proposal to merge BRS (then TRS) in Congress in 2014, but it did not happen due to Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, who was incharge of the state unit then. Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka hit out at KTR, wondering if Meira Kumar, who contested as presidential candidate, was not a Dalit and said BRS supported a party which said Telangana’s creation was akin to a “mother being killed to save the child.”
