HYDERABAD: Three months after the murder of NRI businessman C Jayaram, Hyderabad police on Tuesday filed a charge sheet in a local court against 12 accused, including two policemen. Rakesh Reddy was named accused number 1.
In the 388-page charge sheet filed by ACP (
Banjara Hills
) K Srinivas Rao in XXVII additional metropolitan magistrate court at Nampally, there was no mention of Srikha Chowdary, in other words she was given a clean chit. Srikha was questioned as a suspect by AP police and later by Hyderabad police. The officials could not find any evidence against her. "My stand got vindicated,'' Srikha told TOI.
During the course of investigation, police said they had examined 70 witnesses. Despite several attempts to contact DCP (West) AR Srinivas, he was not available for comment. Investigation officer K Srinivas refused to divulge details when asked about the role of policemen.
Jayaram was murdered in
Jubilee Hills
and later Rakesh Reddy dumped his body on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway.
