Intermediate classes to begin from today in Telangana
Hyderabad: Classes for the new academic year in Intermediate colleges across Telangana will commence from June 1, with the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) directing govt and private institutions to ensure readiness for the reopening.
The first phase of admissions was concluded on May 30, with the last date of receipt of application to the colleges was May 31. Admissions to first-year Intermediate courses are currently underway and will continue through June, with officials aiming to complete the process at the earliest to avoid disruption to academic schedules.
In its academic calendar, the TGBIE revealed that the academic year would be of 227 days, with the half-yearly exams being conducted in Oct.
At a review meeting held on Saturday, TGBIE director and secretary Abhilasha Abhinav instructed district education officials and principals to complete admission-related preparations and launch awareness and counselling drives to boost enrolment during the ongoing admission season.
Officials said that while the struggle on awareness continues in the rural parts of the state, special outreach programmes are being conducted across districts to inform students and parents about academic facilities, welfare schemes and career opportunities available in junior colleges.
The board has also directed institutions to ensure timely distribution of textbooks and smooth coordination between district officials and college principals for a seamless start to classes.
