Court breather for Jaganmohan Reddy, CBI plea junked

HYDERABAD: CBI court principal special judge M Venkata Ramana on Friday dismissed a plea of the Central Bureau of Investigation that sought cancellation of bail given to

YSR Congress

chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case.

The judge, while dealing with another plea, also accorded permission to Jagan to go to

New Zealand

for a 15-day vacation between May and June 2017 with a prior intimation to court.

The judge did not agree with the contention of the CBI that Jagan was trying to influence the witnesses in the case. The investigation agency, in its plea, cited the interview of former chief secretary Ramakanth Reddy broadcast by

Sakshi TV

and stated that Ramakanth Reddy was raising doubts about the probe agency's work. Jagan was behind this exercise and hence it constitutes a violation of bail conditions.
