Over 100 people rushed to hospitals complaining of breathlessness and nausea. Most of them were discharged after first-aid, including being given oxygen. Hospital authorities said that all those affected were out of danger and stable.

On Thursday night, people residing near the water tank and those going towards Cheriyal or coming to Jangaon town were first affected. Doctors said more than 20 people who were admitted had recovered. Additional collector Praful Desai said an inquiry was being conducted to find out how the gas leaked.
