C4IR inks MoUs with 4 global players
Hyderabad: The World Economic Forum's Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) for life sciences in Telangana was unveiled at the 21st edition of BioAsia 2024 here on Wednesday.The Telangana C4IR, which is the 19th such globally, is the first centre that will focus on life sciences, healthcare and healthtech innovation. It will position Telangana as a natural destination for health technology with focus on areas such as skilling & development, software as a medical device (SaMD), real-world evidence, and health informatics & analytics, WEF said.The centre plans to build a clinical registry to improve access to healthcare, drive clinical research in Telangana and develop a robust clinical innovation sandbox where companies and researchers can clinically validate their products and innovations.It will also focus on skilling students with government-led specialised courses, including analytical chemistry, medicinal chemistry AI & ML, and human biology through a combination of remote and classroom learning, and also build a health analytics lab to conduct research and experiments and optimise healthcare spending. Jeremy Jurgens, managing director of WEF’s C4IR , said the partnership between state govt and WEF through C4IR Telangana highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in harnessing emerging technologies to drive positive social and economic impact and set a precedent for global collaboration in healthcare innovation.On the occasion, WEF C4IR Telangana, also announced four MoUs with the National University of Singapore, Digital Medical Society, Garmin Health and Calyx.AI.It will work with NUS, which has experience in harnessing AI to identify and better allow clinicians to make optimal and personalised doses of chemotherapy for patients(including conducting landmark single-patient trials), to bring the know-how to design and conduct similar innovative trials in India.With DiMe, the centre will conduct joint studies and create frameworks and best practices to demonstrate safety and effectiveness of digital health solutions using clinical and sensor data at scale.
