HYDERABAD: Alleging that the Centre was conspiring against Telangana government over implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS), the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has decided to hold protests across the state on Friday.
BRS leader and minister
KT Rama Rao on Thursday gave a call for protest in all the district headquarters against the "discriminatory attitude of the Centre towards Telangana."
“The Centre was spreading misinformation by stating that construction of the drying platforms by the state was a diversion of MGNREGS funds.
The BJP government has served a notice to the Telangana government asking to return Rs 151 crore spent on the construction of dry platforms under the scheme. The Centre is bent on maligning, conspiring against Telangana government without considering benefits such works accrue to farmers,” KTR said in a statement.
Terming the Centre’s action as vengeful, KTR said that construction of agri-produce drying platforms under MGNREGS benefits farmers. The party leader said that Centre had allowed states with coastlines to build fish drying platforms under the MNREGS and at the same time it did not allow agri-produce drying platforms under the same scheme.
