AICC serious on Surekha, seeks report from Mahesh Goud

Hyderabad: The All India Congress Committee has reportedly taken serious note of the controversial remarks made by Telangana minister Konda Surekha on the divorce of actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha and the role of Nagarjuna-Amala Akkineni family in it.
The high command sought a report from TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud following Amala's social media post in which she tagged both Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi seeking action against Surekha for portraying Akkineni family in bad light.
AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal spoke to Mahesh Goud over the phone and gathered details on the controversy, sources said.
Though there were rumours that AICC general secretary Priyanka had spoken to Amala over the phone, no Congress leader confirmed it. In response to a query if any action will be initiated against Surekha, a senior AICC leader said, "let's wait and watch." State Congress leaders, however, ruled out immediate danger to Surekha's berth in CM Revanth Reddy's cabinet.
Mahesh Goud explained to the AICC leadership that trolling by BRS supporters on Surekha that led to her outburst against BRS working president KT Rama Rao and she made controversial remarks against the Akkineni family and Samantha in the process, a senior AICC leader told TOI.
The issue sparked a major reaction from a cross section of society, causing embarrassment to Congress. Mahesh Goud intervened, spoke to Surekha and made her retract her comments on Samantha.
However, the issue did not subside as Nagarjuna filed a criminal complaint and case against Surekha.
