HYDERABAD: Rajanna Sircilla police on Sunday arrested two persons for duping 1,300 persons from across the country on the pretext of providing jobs as Asha workers.

Rajanna Sircilla superintendent of police Akhil Mahajan said they received a complaint from a woman who paid Rs 3 lakh to the accused, hoping to get a job. "However, after getting money, the accused became inaccessible," he said.

Police found that the key accused was Ram Prasad of East Godavari. Cops also nabbed Ram Kumar, who provided SIM cards to Prasad.

Police said the modus operandi of the accused was to give a job advertisement for Asha workers under Ayushman Bharat. "When the victim contacted the accused, he asked her to share her resume on a link shared by him. The accused asked her to pay money. Hoping to get a job, she paid 3 lakh. The accused shared emails, which resembled government IDs. He discarded SIM cards after offence," said cops.

The SP said Prasad has earned 1.6 crore till now by duping victims across India. "65 FIRs are filed against him in various parts of the country," he said.
