Tech varsity to conduct state-level inter-collegiate sports meet

Belagavi: The Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has planned to conducts its 24th state level inter-collegiate athletic meet 2022-23 at VTU sports ground, Belagavi from May 21 to 24. Sahana Kumari, an Olympic games participant in high jump and her husband Nagaraj BG, who also is an international athlete and Commonwealth games participant will be the chief guest. VTU vice-chancellor Vidyashankar S briefed mediapersons about the event here on Thursday.Vidyashankar said more than 2,000 students from around 200 VU-affiliated colleges will be participating in the sports meet. According to the vice-chancellor, athletes will take part in 25 different sports events such as 21km half-marathon, heptathlon, decathlon, throwing, relay, hurdles, pole vault, 24 kms walk, jump events and many more. City police commissioner MB Boralingaiah will be the chief guest for the valedictory and prize distribution event, which is scheduled to be held on May 24. Vice-chancellor said that the engineering colleges in the city, KSRP Macche, social welfare department and Institute of Engineers are supporting the event by providing transportation and accommodation.
