Regional commissioner disqualifies two BCC corporators

Belagavi: Regional commissioner SB Shettennavar on Monday ordered the disqualification of two BJP corporators from the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC). Jayant Jadhav of Ward 23 and Mangesh Pawar of Ward 41 are the suspended members. Whistleblower Sujit Mulgund had filed a complaint against them with the regional commissioner on Nov 9, 2023, for illegally obtaining benefits from the BCC. The RC conducted several hearings in connection with the case. According to the complaint, both corporators availed themselves of shops in ‘Tinisu Katte', a commercial complex of the BCC at Basaveshwar Circle, on a rental basis. Corporator Jayant Jadhav availed a shop in the name of his wife, Sonali, while Mangesh Pawar did so in the name of his wife, Neeta. Interestingly, both availed the shops before they were elected as corporators. However, Shettennavar found them guilty for not returning the shops after they were elected as corporators and continuing to benefit from them.
