Hindustani music concert on June 27

Dharwad: Swara Samvedana Pratishthan, Giligundi will organise a Hindustani classical musical evening at Alur Venkatrao Bhavan in Dharwad on Tuesday(June 27) at 5.30pm. Noted Sarangi exponent Pandit Harsh Narayan of Mumbai will present a Sarangi concert with Kedarnath Havaldar accompanying him on tabala. This performance will be followed by a vocal recital by Sangeeta Hegde of Dharwad. Guruprasad Hegde of Dharwad and Bharavi Deraje of Suratkal will accompany her on harmonium and tabala respectively. Pandit Harsh Narayan is the son of Sarangi maestro Pandit Brijnarayan and the grandson of Pandit Ram Narayan. Hindustani vocalist Pt M Venkatesh Kumar will be the chief guest for the event.Ganja worth ₹1.2 crore seized in BidarKalaburagi: Bidar police have arrested two persons and seized 118 kg ganja worth Rs 1.2 crore, a car, three mobile phones and Rs 15,000 cash from them. Speaking to media persons, Bidar SP Channabasavanna SL said that after getting information about ganja being transported in a car to Maharashtra through Humanabad, police intercepted the vehicle near Humanabad town. They seized the ganja, took two persons to their custody and arrested them later. One of the accused is from Karnataka and another is from Maharashtra. Karnataka director general of police will present an award to the team for acting swiftly and making the big haul. A total 15 ganja cases have been registered in Bidar. Most of them are interstate ganja transport cases. altogether, 1,017 kg ganja worth Rs 10.17 crore has been seized in the past one year.
