CEN police arrest three online fraudsters
Hubballi: CEN police on Friday arrested three cyberfraudsters, who had allegedly created 270 fake accounts in various private banks across the country. Police said Nikhil Kumar Rouni of Delhi, Sachin Bola and Nigam of Mumbai were arrested in connection with a case registered at Hubballi CEN police station. Our investigation was based on bank accounts, addresses and mobile connections and they were arrested from different cities.

Two of the accused are software engineers and one is a cloth vendor. They are experts in coding and decoding and have cheated many people in Karnataka and Maharashtra. They were transferring money to the fake accounts they had created in private banks, they explained.
Addl stoppage of Vande Bharat Express at Yadgir cancelled
Hubballi: As notified by South Central Railway (SCR), train Nos. 22231/32 Kalaburagi-Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Vande Bharat Express, which was earlier notified for the provision of an additional stoppage at Yadagir, is cancelled until further notice. Accordingly, the additional stoppage at Yadgir for train No. 22231 Kalaburagi-SMVT Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, earlier notified to stoppage from July 21, has now been cancelled until further notice. The additional stoppage at Yadgir for train No. 22232 SMVT Bengaluru- Kalaburagi Vande Bharat Express, earlier notified to stoppage from July 20, has now been cancelled until further notice.
Music workshop and concert
Dharwad: Padmashri Sangeet Pratisthan of Dharwad will organise a one-day Ragamalika workshop at Bendre Bhavan in Sadhanakeri of Dharwad on Sunday, from 10am to 2pm. Noted violinist Vadiraj Nimbargi will inaugurate the workshop. Bhargavi Kulkarni will preside over the function. Renuka More and Shantaram Hegde will be the chief guests. Anupama Mangalawede will conduct the workshop. It will be followed by a music concert by the students of Padmashri Sangeet Pratisthan. Mrutyunjay Agadi will inaugurate the concert at 4.30pm.

Engineering college secures ranks in VTU exams
Belagavi: KLE Dr MS Sheshgiri College of Engineering and Technology affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), has secured outstanding ranks in the recently announced annual results conducted by the university. Among the highlights of this year’s rankings, Sahil Somanache (civil engg; CGPA of 9.49/10) has not only secured 1st rank, but is also a recipient of 12 gold medals and cash prize. Keerti Solanki (bio-medical engg; CGPA 9.13/10.00) secured 1st rank, Snehal Jabade (bio-medical engg; CGPA of 9.03/10) secured 2nd rank, Jeevan (chemical engg with a CGPA of 9.07/10) secured 3rd rank. Nikita Gavade (CGPA 9.02 /10) and Jahnavi Jirankali (CGPA 8.89 /10) secured 5th and 6th rank respectively in chemical engg, Ankita Garde (CGPA 8.65/10, bio-medical engg), Saheel Mulla (CGPA 8.89/10, chemical engg) secured 7th rank each and Aditya Kulkarni (CGPA 9.39/10, E&C engg.) secured 10th rank in the recently declared VTU final semester examination.
Swimmers from Belagavi selected for national championship
Belagavi: In the recently concluded NRJ State Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior Aquatic Championship held at Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre, Bengaluru, under the aegis of Karnataka Swimming Association, swimmers from Swimmers’ Club Belagavi participated and performed well by winning six gold, four silver and six bronze medals. Vedant Misale, Nidhi Kulkarni, Advait Dalvi, Sunidhi Halkare, Samrudhi Halkare bagged medals. In the championship, over 1,000 swimmers from across Karnataka participated. Sunidhi halkare, Samrudhi Halkare, Nidhi Kulkarni have been selected to represent Karnataka team at the Sub Junior, Junior National Aquatic Championship 2024 which is going to be held at Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. Each of the swimmers receive expert guidance at KLE’s Suvarna JNMC Swimming Pool in Belagavi. Coaches Umesh Kalghatgi, Akshay Sheregar, Ajinkya Mendke, Nitish Kuduchkar, Govardhan Kakatkar, Imran Uchgaonkar and Vinayak Ambewadikar congratulated the team.
Gig workers feted in Belagavi
Belagavi: Gig workers who were attached to a food delivery app were honoured at Lakeview Hospital recently. Noted neurospine surgeon Dr Raviraj Ghorpade from Lakeview Hospital provided tips to the gig workers about safe driving during rainy season and also gave them raincoats along with some other items. In addition, Dr Ghorpade emphasised the slogan ‘Health is wealth’, offering crucial advice on maintaining health and financial well-being. He highlighted various plans available in the finance sector to help manage health and wealth effectively. The gig workers were very appreciative and grateful to Lakeview Hospital for the valuable insights. Dr Ghorpade said these workers, most of whom who are young, are working under vulnerable conditions without caring for rain, cold or hot summer. “They work for long hours to help their families, risking their lives. Most of them are not even covered by any insurance. We are working out some plans where these workers and their kins could be treated at a concessional rate,” he said.
