Shift Mizo refugees kept in Imphal jails to Mizoram, YMA urges state home min
Aizawl: YMA central committee Monday appealed to state home minister K Sapdanga to find ways of shifting Mizo refugees kept in jails located in Imphal valley to Mizoram. The YMA leaders, led by its president Lalhmachhuana, said a number of such refugees from Myanmar were arrested while seeking shelter in the neighbouring strife-torn state and they should be shifted to prisons in Mizoram. Sapdanga told YMA leaders he will consult police officers about the matter.The YMA leaders also sought funds for the construction of a new relief camp at Zote village in Champhai district bordering Myanmar from Sapdanga as the govt building being used as one has to be vacated. The refugees from Myanmar were being kept at the ITI in Zote village, but it will have to be vacated for students before the new academic session begins.The minister assured them that he will take up the issue of the construction of the proposed relief camp with the authorities concerned.Sapdanga told YMA leaders any additional expenses required for YMA central committee's village profile apps, which are being developed by Lailen Consulting Pvt Ltd, will be borne by the state govt.
