GUWAHATI: During his third visit to Manipur in the past one year, Rahul Gandhi urged PM Narendra Modi to travel to the strife-torn state and provide support to people affected by the violence as the situation in the roiled state is far from peaceful.

Hours before Rahul’s visit, early Monday morning, miscreants fired at an armoured vehicle of security forces in Jiribam. A security source said two persons have been arrested.

Ahead of Rahul’s visit to Manipur, the local administration took stringent measures to bolster security arrangements in Jiribam district. As part of these precautions, the authorities strictly prohibited any form of aerial photography, including the use of drones, balloons, or other devices.
