Faridabad police commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora met the family of the boy on Friday and assured them of speedy action. The police have also announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for anyone who provides any information on the whereabouts of the accused.

On Tuesday, the Class XI student of a private school in Bhanakpur village was allegedly attacked by 7-8 youths, allegedly his seniors, while he was returning home on a bike. While the police have identified five accused in the case, no one has been arrested yet.

“As soon as the information was received, police officers reached the spot and got the post-mortem done, and handed over the body to the family. A murder case has been lodged at the Sector 58 police station,” said police spokesperson Sube Singh.

Apart from announcing the cash reward, police have issued a strict warning that any person found to be assisting the accused or giving them shelter would also be booked in the case.

“Appointing DCP (crime) as the nodal officer of the case, the police commissioner has directed the nine teams to nab the criminals at the earliest and take strictest action against them,” the spokesperson added.

The boy’s uncle told the cops that he had been dropped off by his school bus near an underpass on a stretch of the under-construction Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. He took a lift from a friend, who was travelling to the village with his sister on a bike.

The boy was waylaid and stabbed multiple times in the chest and belly by the accused, according to the police complaint. The boy was taken to a nearby private hospital by his uncle only but he soon died during treatment.
