Teachers now have to pay for advanced IB training
Teachers till Class 12 in Haryana board schools and up to Class 8 in central board of secondary education will be allowed to apply for the programme, said Jyoti Mittal, secretary of HBSE. “The project would open more employment opportunities for the teachers,” she added.
The chairman of the Haryana board VP Yadav said, “Teachers will be appointed as master trainers, who will be trained by faculty from the IB board. The master trainers will later, train other teaching faculties in their respective schools or regions.”
The teachers from government schools will be sent to the IB-board schools and vice versa under the programme. Furthermore, the IB board will prepare teachers’ learning materials to enhance their productivity.
Students at government schools will be given access to the mode of teaching adopted by the teachers at international schools. Students passing the Haryana board will receive certificates signed by both the Haryana School Education Board, Bhiwani, and IB, Switzerland, hence increasing the value of these certificates at international levels.
No mark certs for students if teachers skip invigilation duty: Haryana school board
The Haryana Board of School Education has announced that students at schools where teachers skip invigilation duty will not receive detailed marks certificates (DMC). Teachers will face a fine of Rs 5,000 for their absence. Private school teachers have threatened to protest if the decision is not reversed. Parents argue that the decision is unfair, while teachers believe it is arbitrary and illogical to fine them individually. The federation of private schools welfare association has called on the government to review the policy for ethical and legal reasons.
Gurukuls in Haryana will now be affiliated with School Education Board - EM
The Haryana School Education Minister, Kanwar Pal Gujjar, has announced that Gurukuls in the state will now be affiliated with the School Education Board instead of state universities. This change will provide students in Gurukuls with equal opportunities for higher education. Gujjar met with representatives from 25 Gurukuls to discuss their concerns and demands, assuring them of prompt resolution. He also instructed officers to ensure that new admissions receive their complete set of books on the first day of school. Additionally, he directed officials to revise the norms governing the Consolidated Childrens Welfare Fund to better align with school demands.
Primary school teachers discontent with scheme
Primary school teachers in Madurai held a demonstration to express dissatisfaction with the Ennum Ezhuthum scheme and the use of BEd students to assess teacher performance. Teachers argue that the scheme is time-consuming and focuses too much on online tests, hindering student learning. They also criticize the State Council of Educational Research and Training for disrespecting teachers by involving BEd students in evaluation. The teachers demand that evaluations be conducted by qualified officers, and they request changes to teacher training workshops and school management committee meetings.
