Motorists and senior citizens find it difficult to use the dug-up road due to safety risk
GURGAON: Motorists and pedestrians of Sector 9A are having hardships as internal roads have been dug up by MCG for laying sewer lines.
Residents pointed out that the civic body had built the paver block roads in the area in September last year and by January, they started laying sewer lines adjacent to them. While around 10% work of sewer lines is pending, the newly built roads have been lying damaged at various intersections and repair work has not started yet.

“New roads are subjected to damage within six months for laying sewer lines. It seems like there is no synchronised action and as a result taxpayer money goes to waste. We urge the MCG commissioner to restore the roads at the earliest.
The civic body should also ensure that pipeline work for sewage, water and telecom are done before building roads,” Lalit Suraj Bhola, general secretary of RWA said. Moreover, the entire area is covered with mud and debris, which has aggravated dust pollution in the area.
Due to delay in repairing the roads, the interlocking tiles are being stolen by miscreants, putting the cost on to the exchequer money, they alleged on Sunday. “Senior citizens have often lost their balance, injuring themselves. The sewer laying work has been done in a shabby manner with substandard material being used and there was no monitoring from MCG. The roads must be repaired before monsoon, otherwise it will become even more difficult to step out,” Sanjeev Sharma, a resident said. Meanwhile, Gopal Kalawat, executive engineer of MCG, said that the matter was not brought to his knowledge till now. “I will get the matter examined and needful will be done accordingly,” he said.
