GURGAON: Nuh police said on Thursday they recovered eight swords based on information given by Raj Kumar alias Bittu Bajrangi, the cow vigilante who was arrested earlier this week on rioting charges in connection with the communal violence that broke out during a religious procession in the district on July 31.
TOI had reported in the Thursday edition about Bittu telling investigators that he and his supporters had hidden the swords and tridents they were carrying at the yatra in the Aravali hills of Faridabad.
A Nuh court sent Bittu to 14 days in judicial custody after the completion of his day-long police remand. Judicial magistrate (first class) Amit Verma also accepted the request to shift Bittu out of Nuh after police, in their submission to court, said most of the inmates at the district jail were angry about his posts and statements about their religion.
The judge directed cops to transfer Bittu to the Neemka jail in Faridabad and issued directions for the jail superintendent to ensure his safety in judicial custody.
"Eight swords were recovered on the information given by Bittu. More arrests are expected in the case," a senior police officer from Nuh said.
