Haryana is among top five states in the country in terms of GST collection in September at Rs 8 crore. Last year, Rs 27,155 crore was collected as GST in the state between April and September.

The GST revenue collection target has been set at Rs 57,831 crore for the year and efforts are being made to increase the collection beyond the targetted amount, Devendra Singh Kalyan, principal secretary (excise and taxation), said.

Kalyan was in the city on Saturday to chair the review meeting of joint excise and taxation commissioners of Haryana. He directed the officers of the department to curb revenue leakages.

Kalyan said that during the first half of the financial year 2023-24, the SGST collection - including IGST settlement and SGST compensation - is Rs 20,670 crore, which is 27% higher than the SGST collected during the same period in the last financial year.

Excise revenue collection is Rs 5,757 crore this year, a 16.3% high from last year.

The principal secretary, regarding the 'Mera Bill Mera Adhikar' scheme, said that the department is taking help from college students who are creating awareness among the masses at different markets and malls. They are helping people in downloading the app so that more customers can upload their invoices and avail the benefits of the scheme.

By uploading the GST invoice on the application, there will be a surge in GST invoice generation, thereby reducing tax leakages, he explained.

Under the scheme, the government also offers cash prizes to lucky winners chosen by the draw system every month.
