GURGAON: Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a woman he met through a dating app on the false promise of marriage, officials said.
The woman filed a complaint on Tuesday that the man allegedly established physical relations with her on the false promise of marriage and later refused to marry her.
Based on her complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sector 50 police station, police said.
The accused, identified as Gaurav, was arrested late Tuesday night from Gurgaon by a police team. He is employed with a private company in the city.
“His mobile phone has been recovered and the accused is being questioned,” a Gurgaon Police spokesperson said.
