Concentrix staffer critical after hit-and-run on Dwarka Expressway; suffers brain haemorrhage, multiple facial fractures
GURGAON: A 28-year-old BPO employee is battling for life after suffering a brain haemorrhage and multiple facial fractures in a hit-and-run accident on Dwarka Expressway near Bajghera earlier this week.
The victim, Raj Shekhar Roy, a trainer with Concentrix at Cyber City, was riding his motorcycle when he was allegedly struck by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene.
He was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where he remains in the intensive care unit in a critical condition.
According to a complaint filed by his sister, Preeti, she received information on Feb 23 that her brother had been involved in a road accident and hospitalised. Preeti, who lives in Kandaghat in Himachal Pradesh's Solan, said that when she reached the hospital, she found him unconscious and on life support.
Doctors later informed the family that Roy had suffered a brain haemorrhage along with multiple fractures to his face, indicating the severity of the impact. "He was on his bike when an unidentified vehicle hit him. Three days after the accident, he is still critical and in the ICU. We do not yet know which vehicle struck him," Preeti told police.
Police said the investigating officer visited the hospital soon after the incident and obtained Roy's medico-legal report. Attempts were made on Feb 23, 24 and 25 to record the victim's statement, but doctors declared him unfit to speak on each occasion.
On Feb 25, Preeti submitted a written complaint to the police against the unidentified driver, alleging negligence and reckless driving. Based on the complaint, the medico-legal report and a preliminary inquiry, police registered a case at Bajghera police station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 281 (rash driving) and 125(A) (acts endangering human life or personal safety).
Police said efforts were underway to trace the vehicle involved, including scanning CCTV footage from the expressway and nearby areas.
"The investigation has been taken up, and teams are working to identify the driver and vehicle responsible for the incident," an officer said.
