GURGAON: Teachers in government-run schools and colleges have complained that they don’t have access to computer labs or gadgets for compiling Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) data.

The teachers said they are being forced to use their own phones, laptops and internet for uploading data on the PPP portal.

The school education department declared Saturday as well as Sunday as working days to finish the work by the weekend, despite several teachers boycotting it.

The teachers said it was impossible to wrap up the work in this time, as districts like Faridabad, Nuh, Gurgaon and Sonipat have around 50% pending cases on an average. While Faridabad has a total of 94,964 (68%) pending cases of tagging Aadhaar details with PPP, Gurgaon has 64,844 (49.3%) such cases.

The notice cancelling the weekend off read, “Officers from the state headquarters will also be visiting the worst-performing districts during July 7, 8 and 9… July 8 and 9 will be working days for verification purposes. You are requested to complete the PPP data tagging positively by July 9, 2023.”

The decision was taken after the additional chief secretary (school education) reviewed the progress of data tagging on the PPP portal on Friday.

A professor from the Government College located in Sector 14 said, “We haven’t been provided school computers or internet for the work. We have been using the internet and our devices on our own expenses to do the government’s work.”

Meanwhile, Haryana Lecturers’ Association has boycotted the PPP data tagging exercise since January, after they were forced to carry out the task during the winter vacations. Teachers from across the state have also written to education minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar several times demanding their removal from non-academic duties.

Earlier in May, Gujjar had promised to discuss the matter with officials and soon remove all the academic staff from non-academic duties like PPP tagging. But no such action has been taken yet.

So far, about 72 lakh families have been registered on the PPP portal in Haryana. Of these, the data of about 68 lakh families has been verified by the government.
