Gurgaon: A 45-year-old home guard died after the car he was driving crashed into a roadside culvert.
The incident happened on the Delhi-Alwar National Highway (NH-248A) near Bodikothi Chowk in Ferozepur Jhirka on Wednesday afternoon, when the deceased, Rakesh alias Raju, was travelling with two of his colleagues.
Rakesh was originally from Gulalta village in Punhana and was a resident of Ferozepur Jhirka. The injured were identified as Mahesh, a resident of Prajapati Mohalla, and Arif, a resident of Rawli village. The three had gone to the police lines in Nuh for official work and were returning to Ferozepur Jhirka.
“Around 3.30 pm, the car suddenly went out of control and rammed into the culvert. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was extensively damaged,” an officer said. It is suspected that a stray animal may have crossed the road, though the cause will be confirmed after investigation.
A police team from Ferozepur Jhirka station shifted the injured to the district hospital in Mandikhera. Rakesh’s body was sent for postmortem and later handed over to his family. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
