MAPUSA: A 31-year-old woman from Bardez was allegedly raped by a Nigerian after being kidnapped at knife point from Parra, Mapusa police said.
According to the survivor’s complaint, the incident took place between 4.15pm and 7pm on Saturday. She was riding her scooter and was stopped at a junction in Parra by another scooter with two Nigerians on it.
One of them became a forceful pillion on the survivor’s scooter and took her to Assagao at knife point. She was taken to his rented room in Doshishir at Assagao. There were two more Nigerian nationals in the room who tried to pacify the alleged accused and convince him not to harm her sexually. But the accused forced them to leave the room and allegedly raped the woman.
The survivor managed to escape on her scooter and reached the police station to file her complaint. Mapusa police sent the woman for medical examination and have registered an offence against an unknown Nigerian national under IPC Sections 365, 506, 342, and 376.
Sources informed that the police had also inspected the room where the alleged
rape took place and kept a night vigil in search of the accused but were not able to trace him till late Sunday evening. Mapusa police are further investigating the case.
