Goa: Students’ body says no to release of PM Narendra Modi biopic in poll season

: The National Student’s Union of India – Goa has written to the Election Commission of India objecting to the proposed release of a

biopic

on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It said the movie was “propaganda by BJP to influence” voters during the

Lok Sabha elections

.


State NSUI president Ahraz Mulla has urged ECI to ban the movie in the theatres 48 hours prior to voting.

“Ban the movie in theatres in states during the election silence period, which is two days prior to voting day,” he said. “We also demand a ban on the movie in the

Lok Sabha

constituency where the PM would be contesting.”

The code of conduct came into effect from March 10 across the country. Elections will be held in seven phases beginning from April 11, while results will be announced on May 23.

The biopic on the prime minister has been directed by Omung Kumar and features Boman Irani and Vivek Oberoi. It is expected to release on April 12, a date which coincides with the start of the voting process.

“A movie on the prime minister who has failed miserably, is nothing but a propaganda by the BJP to influence the public during the model code of conduct without including the expenditure incurred for the movie in the election expediture of Narendra Modi,” the state NSUI president said.
