Ponda sopo tax collection process OK’d

PONDA: The

Ponda

Municipal Council (PMC) approved the auctioning of sopo tax collection process on Wednesday.


The council on Monday auctioned the collection to a Ponda citizen, Anand Naik, on a bid of Rs 20.20 lakh. Naik will collect the sopo tax for eight months, till March 2019 from the street vendors operating from across the town.

PMC chief officer Navnath Naik said the council meeting held on Wednesday approved the auctioning process.

The council has also discussed about shifting the omlet, vada-pav,

bhel

and other rolling carts to their earlier places. However, the meeting has decided to inspect the places where the carts were operating before shifting them to the old bus stand.

The

municipality

has resolved to have the developmental works worth Rs 8 lakh in each ward. tnn
