Colva: South Goa sessions court on Monday convicted Rajesh Mishra, who was charged with committing a murder of a Jharkand native residing at Verna in 2011. The court has acquiited two others accused in the case.

According to the prosecution, on January 18, 2011, accused Mishra, Parvesh Kumar and Sudarshan Mishra, natives of Jharkand , who were also residing at Verna, stabbed

to death.

The trio repeatedly stabbed him with sharp knives on his neck and other parts of the body. Afterwards, they dragged the corpse from the murder spot and dumped it in a stone quarry to destroy evidence, the prosecution said.

Overall, 43 witnesses were interrogated by the prosecution led by public prosecutor Sarojini Sardinha while advocate Rajiv Gomes appeared for all three accused. Convicting Rajesh Mishra, sessions court judge Desmond D’Costa observed, “In the present case, I find that all the circumstances proved are consistent with the guilt of the accused and they form a complete circle connecting him with the murder of deceased Rupesh Mishra”.

Further the judge observed: “In respect to accused Parvesh Nand and Sudarshan Mishra, there is no chain of circumstances established to bring out conclusively their involvement in the present crime”

The court has adjourned the case to hear the parties on the quantum of sentence to be imposed on the convicted.
