Now, Goa Dairy increases milk prices by Rs 2/L
Ponda: Ten days after the national brands like Amul and Mother Dairy hiked their milk rates, the Goa Dairy on Sunday announced the hike in milk rates of its three of four variants. However, there is no hike in the price of the full cream milk for now. The new rates are effective from Monday.
The Goa Dairy has announced an increase in rates by Rs 1 per half litre (Rs 2 per litre) on three milk variants, excluding the high fat milk.
Amul/Mother Dairy increased prices by Rs 2 per litre across all major variants including Gold, Taaza and Cow Milk.
In Jan 2023, Goa Dairy had hiked the milk rates by Rs 4-5 per litre of milk. It was the second hike within eight months. The earlier hike was affected in May 2022.
As per the new rates announced by the Goa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union, popularly known as Goa Dairy, the 500ml packet of Shakti (standardised milk) which was priced at Rs 29 will now cost Rs 30, cow milk will be sold at Rs 28 per 500ml, and full cream milk will remain at the same price of Rs 70.
While the pack of a litre of Cold Gold (toned milk) has been hiked from Rs 51 to Rs 53, the dairy has reintroduced the 450ml pack at the price of Rs 25. Till Sunday, the 475ml pack was available at Rs 25.
The dairy presently sells four variants, full cream (orange packets with 6.0% fat and 9.0% SNF), standardised milk ‘Shakti’ (green packets with 4.5% fat and 8.5% SNF), cow milk (red packets with 3.5% fat and 8.5% SNF) and toned milk with a brand name ‘Cold Gold’ (blue packets with 3.0% fat and 8.5% SNF) in the Goan retail market.
Amul, marketed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) sells Gold (full cream milk) with 6% fat and 9% SNF at Rs 70.
Amul Shakti (standardized milk) with 4.5% fat and 8.5% SNF at Rs 64. Amul Cow Milk with 4.5% fat and 8.5% SNF is available at Rs 60. Amul Taaza (toned milk) with 3% fat and 8.5% SNF is being sold at Rs 58.
