PANAJI: Goa assembly polls picked up pace on Tuesday with BJP announcing that it will contest all 40 seats—a first in the state with the first list of around 36 candidates expected on Wednesday, while TMC released its first list of 11 candidates pitching its Rajya Sabha MP

The day also saw Congress release its two lists of 11 candidates with Dharmesh Saglani taking on chief minister Pramod Sawant in Sankhli and working president and former minister Alexio Sequeira being fielded from Nuvem.
In a major setback to GFP, Congress also announced Anthony Fernandes as its candidate for St Andre constituency, which GFP was eyeing. Hours after Congress list was released, GFP’s Jagdish Bhobe—who was hopeful of St Andre seat—quit the party and joined TMC and was immediately given a ticket to contest from there.
Meanwhile, AAP national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has already arrived in Goa and is expected to announce the party’s CM face on Wednesday.
