PANAJI: Hindu Janagruti Samiti (HJS) has written an open letter to chief minister
Manohar Parrikar asking him to do away with casinos saying the casino culture causes the worst form of corruption.
Dr Manoj Solanki, state convener of HJS, has written the letter in reference to the drowning death of an engineering student from Hyderabad after he fell off a casino deck.
"You have continued with casinos in Goa on the grounds of alternative annual revenue of 150 crore in the absence of mining revenue but money obtained from casinos is not income from righteousness source in any religion," Dr Solanki said further pointing out that if politicians are righteous then the state will be prosperous and the act of promoting casinos is just contradictory
He also posed a question to Parrikar whether he feels morally responsible for the death of the young student as he asks him to introspect about this means of earning revenue.
