Cong never worked for development of Goa: CM
Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant said on Saturday that Congress never contributed to the development of Goa during its time in office, whether at the Centre or in state govt. He further said that Congress will never work for the state’s development.
“You review Congress’ track record. It never took Goa as seriously as it should have. Whether it was giving representation (in the Union cabinet) or the development of Goa... I want to tell the INDIA bloc that Congress has never worked for the development of Goa. Even in the future, it will not take Goa seriously.”
He said that “if Congress wanted, it could have done it (development) whenever it had its double-engine govt”.
Sawant was speaking at a BJP function organised in Panaji to felicitate Shripad Naik for being elected to the Lok Sabha for the sixth consecutive term, as well as for being inducted in PM Narendra Modi’s cabinet.
Naik thanked the people of North Goa for reposing their faith in him and BJP. He also thanked Modi for giving him the opportunity to serve as minister of state for power and new and renewable energy.
He said his primary goal is to bring and implement renewable energy projects in Goa.
“We will explore options for renewable energy projects to make the state self-sufficient in energy,” he said.
