3-day police custody for theft accused

Vasco: The judicial magistrate first class (JMFC), Vasco, on Wednesday remanded the two maids allegedly involved in a theft case at Vasco in three-day police custody.

The two women were arrested in connection with the theft of gold and cash, amounting to Rs 8.9 lakh.

The police have succeeded in recovering a few more stolen items from the possession of the maids.

“We are heading towards total recovery of the stolen items. We have arrested the maid who was working in the house. She committed the theft of gold worth Rs 6.9 lakh and cash of Rs 2 lakh. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had one more accomplice who had the gold ornaments, which she later sold to jewellers,” said PSI Swapnil Naik. tnn
