Man goes to restaurant in Ghaziabad, finds cockroach in gulab jamun
GHAZIABAD: A customer allegedly found a cockroach in the food served to him at Pind Balluchi restaurant in Mahagun Mall in Vaishali, sparking outrage over lapses in food safety.
The incident, which happened around 8pm on Thursday, was reported to the food safety department on Saturday via a written complaint.
The complainant, Dr Mahesh Chaudhary, had gone to the restaurant along with 15 of his guests to celebrate his son’s birthday. “We ordered some gulab jamun as dessert. When it was served to us, we immediately saw a cockroach inside it. When I raised a concern with the restaurant employee, I didn't get a satisfying answer which prompted me to take the food plate to the manager,” he said.
However, the manager did not give him any explanation and instead simply disposed of the food. “The manager took the cockroach in the tissue and left. When I reached out to him again for an explanation he refused the claims and said there was no cockroach. However, I had already taken some pictures of the same earlier. The manager was also drunk when I reached out to him,” he claimed.
However, restaurant manager Ganesh Dutt Joshi refuted Chaudhary’s claims of misbehaviour. He added that a team from the food safety department had already visited the restaurant and he had informed them of the entire incident.
An official from the department said they have collected food samples from the restaurant and sent them for testing.
