GHAZIABAD: The daughter of former Sahibabad
MLA Amarpal Sharma
was allegedly threatened of an
acid attack by an unidentified caller on Tuesday. Nidhi (28) has been campaigning for the past several days for her mother, Mohini, who has filed her candidature as an independent for the post of Khoda chairperson.
“Nidhi received a call on her mobile phone where she was told that she would be attacked with acid. The caller also threatened to shoot her dead because she has been campaigning actively for her mother Mohini in the urban local body polls,” said Rahul, an aide of Amarpal Sharma.
Sharma, accused in the murder conspiracy of local BJP worker
Gajendra Bhati
, is lodged in jail after he surrendered in a Ghaziabad court on October 17. Bhati, whose clout as a BJP leader of Khoda was steadily on the rise, was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants on September 2. “Bhati’s supporters and other local BJP workers have been disrupting our campaigns. They infiltrate our campaigns with bikes and create disturbance whenever we are on a voter connect drive,” said Rahul.
“We have registered an FIR under IPC sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. We are trying to trace the caller from the number of the cell phone used to issue the threat,” said Khoda SHO Dhruv Bhushan Dubey.
