Erode: Four family members died in a road accident after their car collided with another car near Bhavanisagar in Erode district early Wednesday morning.
Murugan, 35, of Jadayampalayam near Sirumugai in Coimbatore district, his wife Ranjitha, 30, their son Abishek, 8, and Nitheesha, 6, have all died.
Murugan traveled to Karur with his family for work, then returned to Jadayampalayam via Bhavanisagar on the same night.
When the car approached the weavers colony on the Sathyamangalam-Mettupalayam route at 1.30 am., Murugan lost control of the vehicle and struck another car coming in the opposite direction.
"All four died of their injuries on the spot," stated a police official from the Bhavanisagar police station. He also reported that two men arrived in another vehicle and incurred injuries, although their condition is said to be stable.
Bhavanisagar police sent the remains to Sathyamangalam's government hospital for postmortem examination.
A case was filed, and more investigation is underway.
