ERODE: AIADMK candidate for Erode East bypoll K S Thennarasu filed his nomination papers on Thursday, the last day to submit the affidavit.
He was accompanied by former minister K V Ramalingam, Tamil Maanila Congress youth wing leader M Yuvaraja and a couple of other AIADMK functionaries. Thennarasu began his campaign immediately after filing his nomination.
He said that his victory in the bypoll was a foregone conclusion. "With the support of AIADMK cadres and our allies coupled with the blessings of interim general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, I will win with a record high vote margin," he told reporters. Thennarasu also thanked BJP state president K Annamalai for extending support.
Party's election committee chief K A Sengottaiyan said that a candidate introduction meeting would be organsied on February 9. He told reporters that they have started their full fledged election campaign from the 'kubera moolai' (south west corner as per vasthu sashtra) of the Erode east constituency.
