Man robbed of 62 lakh at gunpoint in SW Delhi, 5 held

New Delhi: A distributor working with a private company was robbed of Rs 62 lakh and his scooter at gunpoint in southwest Delhi's Kapashera recently. Five people, including an employee of the company, were arrested, police said on Monday. The accused were identified as Asif (22), Amir (22), Hari Singh Nagar (20), Sanjay Anuragi (19) and Chandan Singh (29).
The incident took place on Oct 16, when Bhagwat Prasad was heading home on his scooter. At 12.20pm, he was intercepted by three individuals riding a black motorcycle without a number plate in Samalkha. Their faces were covered by helmets and masks. They attempted to snatch his bag, which was lying at the footstep of the scooter. When Prasad resisted, one of the assailants brandished a pistol and threatened to kill him. They pushed the complainant, took his bag and scooter, and fled the scene.
DCP(Southwest) Surendra Choudhary formed a team under Satyajeet Sarin, ACP (Vasant Kunj), to investigate the case. Based on certain clues, police apprehended Asif and Amir at Chhath Ghat Road in Dundahera as they were leaving for their hometown. The other three accused were also arrested later.
Police recovered the entire stolen money and the scooter, apart from a new bike and the weapon used in the crime.
Chandan, who works as a distributor for the company, assisted the other accused.
