NEW DELHI/KOLKATA: : He dreamed of starting a new life with the gold jewellery worth Rs 1 crore he had looted in Delhi. His dream run ended when the Delhi police arrested the absconding thief from West Bengal's Diamond Harbour area in Kolkata.

's Reghar Pura, from where gold worth Rs 1 crore had been stolen. The accused, a gold artisan, used to work in the same jewellery shop owned by Kaushik Goswami, where he committed the robbery, by serving liquor and sweets laced with sedatives to his co-workers on November 4 on the pretext of celebrating his child's birthday.
According to DCP Rajesh Dev, police have recovered 80 per cent of the stolen gold. Surjeet stole the gold from the shop and had left Delhi for West Bengal to start a new life.
Crime branch started the probe and reached his home he had rented in Kolkata West Bengal.
