Blast near Red Fort Metro Station kills 8

The explosion occurred near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, killing at least eight people.

Fire engulfs nearby vehicles

The blast triggered a fire that damaged three to four vehicles parked close to the site, officials from the Delhi Fire Department said.

UP on red alert after Delhi blast

Following the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro station, Uttar Pradesh has been placed on red alert. ADG (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash said the DGP has directed all senior officers to tighten security across sensitive districts, religious sites and border regions. Police units in every district have been instructed to remain on high alert, with orders from Lucknow to intensify patrolling and security checks in vulnerable areas, Yash told ANI.

Casualties rushed to LNJP Hospital

The Medical Superintendent of LNJP Hospital confirmed that eight victims were brought dead, three were seriously injured, and one was stable.

Seven fire tenders rushed to spot

The Delhi Fire Department deployed seven fire tenders to control the blaze. The fire was doused by 7.29 PM, said Deputy Chief Fire Officer A.K. Malik.

Police, Special Cell begin investigation

A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell reached the site soon after the explosion. Officials said the cause of the blast remains unknown.

Following the explosion, a high alert was issued across Delhi. Security was tightened in sensitive areas and near metro stations.

Eyewitnesses recall deafening explosion

“I never heard such a loud explosion in my life. It felt like we were all going to die,” said a shopkeeper near the spot, recalling the moment of the blast.

Scene of devastation shocks locals

Witnesses described seeing body parts scattered on the road and vehicles in flames. “It was horrifying; we couldn’t understand what had happened,” said another resident.
