PM Modi also flagged off the RapidX train, connecting Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, marking the launch of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in India. The trains will be known as 'Namo Bharat'.

3/12

Project Cost

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS being developed at a cost of more than Rs 30,000 crore, and will connect Delhi to Meerut in less than an hour of travel time going through the urban centres of Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar.
4/12

RRTS Speed

The RRTS is a new rail-based, semi-high-speed, high-frequency commuter transit system with a design speed of 180 km/h. The fully air-conditioned, safe and comfortable train is designed to provide high-speed trains for intercity commuting every 15 minutes, which can go up to a frequency of every 5 minutes as per requirement.

5/12

RRTS Stations

The priority section of the RRTS Corridor between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot includes five stations: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot.

6/12

Services For Passengers

Passengers waiting in the lounge will have access to a vending machine for snacks and drinks. In line with PM GatiShakti's National Master Plan, the RRTS network will have extensive multi-modal integration with Railway stations, Metro stations, Bus services etc.

7/12

Entry Process

At the stations, the entry process is similar to that of the metro, including luggage scanning, security checks, automatic fare collection gates, and access to the platform.

8/12

Inside RRTS Coach

All coaches have 2x2 seats, each equipped with a charging point, overhead luggage racks, and digital displays. Inside, you'll find reclining blue seats instead of the red ones in the standard carriages, offering extra leg space, footrests, coat hooks, and magazine holders. Pairs of cushioned seats are lined along the windows. Acceleration is almost seamless.
9/12

Facilities and Fare

The minimum fare for the five standard coaches on the priority section has been set at Rs 20 and the maximum at Rs 50. For the premium coach — the sixth car of the train — the minimum fare has been fixed at Rs 40 while the maximum is Rs 100.

10/12

RRTS Coaches

Each train, manufactured by Alstom, consists of six compartments. The coach at the front is reserved for women. Out of the six carriages, the last one is a premium coach, which is more expensive than regular tickets and can only be accessed through the premium lounge on the station's platform.

11/12

Premium coach fare

A ride on a premium coach, Sahibabad to Ghaziabad and Duhai stations will cost Rs 60, Sahibabad to Duhai will cost Rs 80 and Duhai Depot Rs 100. The rates, officials said, may be revised as and when more stations or sections are added.

12/12

RRTS Security System

The RapidX security system is equipped with artificial intelligence, which eliminates the possibility of human error by automatically identifying any restricted items and stopping the conveyor belt on its own.
