Couple among 3 held for kidnap of infant; 2 more kids recovered
New Delhi: A two-month-old girl who had been kidnapped from Gole Market was rescued in Tundla on Monday. Three people, including a married couple, were arrested and two other children recovered from them. The couple claimed that the two children were their relatives, but police suspect that they were also kidnapped. Cops said two of the kidnappers are deaf and mute. The baby had been reported missing on Sunday. Police had carried out searches but were unable to find her. A case had been registered and a team led by SHO Amit Kumar Tiwari was formed, a senior police officer said.During the investigation, officers analysed CCTV footage from nearby areas and successfully identified a woman carrying the child. More than 100 CCTV cameras were examined to trace her route. A man was observed joining the woman en route, and they were seen proceeding towards Shivaji Bridge railway station. However, at that point, the duo disappeared from the view of CCTV cameras.Police arrested the man near Shivaji Bridge railway station. He was identified as Rudhir, a deaf and mute man who lives near Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place.Based on his information, cops conducted raids in clusters near Ghaziabad railway station and nabbed Anita Devi alias Neetu. Two children — a boy aged five or six years and a two-year-old girl — were found in her possession under "suspicious" circumstances.Police said that during interrogation, Neetu confessed to her involvement in the kidnapping of the two-month-old girl and further disclosed that she handed over the child to her husband, Deepak Satsangi. He had boarded a train to Tundla in Uttar Pradesh with the girl. The couple, she told cops, were planning to sell the kidnapped child."The police team nabbed Satsangi at Tundla railway station just as he was trying to escape. The kidnapped girl was recovered from his possession," an officer said. Police discovered that Satsangi was also deaf and mute."Neetu has not yet provided any satisfactory reply regarding the parents of the two children recovered from them. Efforts are being made to locate their families and reunite them," the officer added.
