Cops find Rs 23L in car in east Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi Police recovered more than Rs 23 lakh from a car near Chacha Nehru Hospital in Geeta Colony. Police were conducting checks in Krishna Nagar on Wednesday when they made the discovery during a vehicle inspection. The cash, exceeding Rs 23 lakh, was found in a car driven by 69-year-old Krishanpal Jain, a resident of Chhatarpur.

"The vehicle was registered in the name of Amit Jain, Krishanpal's son and the driver. As the amount exceeded the limit of Rs 10 lakh, Income Tax department was informed for further seizure and investigation, according to the cops," police said.

Meanwhile, in another case, the cops seized Rs 1.86 lakh from a person in Dwarka travelling from Gurgaon in a car. In two other cases reported from Dwarka, more than Rs 1 lakh was seized. tnn
